I am Cathy Dao, a Vietnamese girl turning 21 this year, currently pursuing her Bachelor degree in Media and Communication in QUT,  Brisbane, Australia. I may strike you as being quiet and reserved, but once you get to know me, I am unexpectedly mischievous! As an introvert, I love reading and writing, observing and listening to unique stories of other people. I make plans ahead, but sometimes, I do not mind doing something unplanned!

My prioritized value is flexibility. I consider myself as a flexible person as I am open to new challenges and adapt quickly to a new environment. Writing has also been my preference because I love putting my ideas into words that can make people feel inspired. Currently, I work at VietQ - Vietnamese Student Association as a Marketing Director who is in charge of making strategic plans to maintain and reinforce the image of VietQ as an inclusive and dynamic community on social media. Moreover, I work as a casual copywriter who writes promotional Facebook posts at DSS Education - an Education and Migration agent based in Sydney, Australia. Although I am not gifted with an eye for arts, I have been trying my best to use Adobe Indesign and Photoshop as well as Canva to create visual designs during working for both aforementioned organizations. With my undying quest for learning to become a flexible multi-tasker, I am sure to fit in any media organizations I work for.

Passion is another thing that I value. My passion for Asian Pop culture is the driving force behind what I have done and what I want to become in the future. As I have been an avid fan of Asian Pop culture for more than 5 years, I learned how to communicate in basic Korean and Chinese. I am also the founder and administrator of a 30,000 - like Facebook fan page for a Korean celebrity named I.M from the boy group "Monsta X". Moreover, I am fairly familiar with Aegisub and Format Factory - two of the most popular applications used to make subtitles for videos after 2 years of experience. I firmly believe that the everlasting passion for creating and developing a more enthusiastic and interactive community for Asian Pop fans could be my great advantage if I am given the opportunity to work for any media organizations.

Furthermore, I love volunteering as it nurtures the power of empathy in me. My supporting a good cause may have, even just a little, impact on society but in return, I gain an enormous sense of personal achievement. Moreover, I have also developed other essential skills needed in the workplace namely problem-solving skills, communication skills, and time management skills. I used to volunteer with Imperfection Project - a student-run volunteer project with a view to helping disadvantaged children at a special needs center with arts and crafts during my high school years in Vietnam. I was also a volunteer involving in event planning of KickSTART 2018 - a pre-orientation program at QUT designed for new students. For the next years, I will seek for a suitable volunteering organization, where I can sharpen my skills and instill my values.

I am highly aware that I can uniquely contribute to the world of journalism, media and communication. Although being a second language learner and an introvert, I believe that I can utilize all the skills and values cultivated through my relevant work experience and other volunteering projects to become the most suitable employee for any media organizations, and inspire many people to believe in their values and dreams.
